Direct writing of textured ceramics using anisotropic nozzles

چکیده

Direct writing is a unique means to align anisotropic particles for the fabrication of textured ceramics by templated grain growth (TGG). We show that alignment tabular barium titanate (BT) template (20–40 ?m width and 0.5–2 thickness) in PIN-PMN-PT matrix powder (d50 = 280 nm) significantly improved during direct using nozzles at high printing rates. The particle orientation distribution as-printed filaments, texture sintered ceramic filaments are shown directly correlate with COMSOL Multiphysics-predicted torque distributions aspect ratio 2, 3 5 oval nozzles. Electromechanical strain properties piezoelectric relative random when printed Simulations 20 interior baffles demonstrate increased near elimination constant shear stress cores (i.e. plug flow).

Hybrid processing and anisotropic sintering shrinkage in textured ZnO ceramics.

We have studied the combined effects of the templated grain growth and magnetic alignment processes on sintering, anisotropic sintering shrinkage, microstructure development and texture in ZnO ceramics. Suspensions of 0-10 vol % ZnO template particles were slip cast in a 12 T rotating magnetic field. Sintering and texture characteristics were investigated via thermomechanical analysis and elect...

Architected cellular ceramics with tailored stiffness via direct foam writing.

Hierarchical cellular structures are ubiquitous in nature because of their low-density, high-specific properties, and multifunctionality. Inspired by these systems, we created lightweight ceramic architectures composed of closed-cell porous struts patterned in the form of hexagonal and triangular honeycombs by direct foam writing. The foam ink contains bubbles stabilized by attractive colloidal...

ANISOTROPIC SUPERELASTICITY OF TEXTURED Ti-Ni SHEET

A recently developed crystal-mechanics-based constitutive model for polycrystalline shape-memory alloys (Thamburaja and Anand [1]) is shown to quantitatively predict the in-plane anisotropy of superelastic sheet Ti-Ni to reasonable accord. Keywords— Phase transformations, Constitutive equations, Finite-elements, Mechanical testing.

Ethanol-based Tape Casting Process of the Textured Bi0.5(Na0.80K0.20)0.5TiO3-BiFeO3 Ceramics

The rheological and tape casting behavior of ethanol-based Bi0.5(Na0.80K0.20)0.5TiO3-7 mol% BiFeO3 (BNKT-BF) slurries was investigated. The effect of sintering temperature profile on texture development with a preferred orientation was also studied. A 50 MPa pressure assisted three step sintering profile promoted extensive texture development together with densification. The role of BF as a sin...

Microstructure and high-temperature strength of textured and non-textured ZrB2 ceramics

Zirconium diboride (ZrB2) ceramic possesses a unique combination of nice mechanical performance, high melting point (> 3000 °C) and great high-temperature oxidation resistance (up to 1600 °C), which makes it a promising material system for ever-increasing ultra-high temperature (UHT) applications. However, ZrB2 suffers from poor mechanical performance at UHTs, which could strongly limit its app...
